Connecting Art, Culture and Community through Education, Advocacy and Celebration
Arts Missoula (formerly Missoula Cultural Council) was formed in February, 1991 as the result of a two year public planning process. A written report, The Fabric of Missoula, provided the basis for the formation of Arts Missoula as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. It is a local arts agency — the first in Montana — as defined by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Soon after its formation, Arts Missoula was designated as an official cultural agency for Missoula County and the City of Missoula.
Arts Missoula’s Board of Directors reflects a cross-section of the entire community’s interest and involvement in the arts and culture. It strives for collaborative efforts between cultural organizations, public agencies, and the private business sector.
Arts Missoula serves as a resource for the coordination, development and support of art and culture for the benefit of the Missoula community, with the goals of:
for public and private support of the arts and cultural activities.
collaborative efforts among local arts organizations
community leaders and policy makers about the economic benefits of the arts.
the value of diverse cultures and helping our community understand its place in the world.
