SALUTING THE ARTS IN MISSOULA

JQ 2014-03-25 MCC Awards Lunch-3-w800-h800The Arts Culture Awards ceremony was recently held by Arts Missoula on March 28, 2017 honoring five outstanding individuals who have impacted our community through their contribution to the arts. Established in 1999, the Arts Missoula Arts and Culture Awards demonstrate the importance of the arts as they relate to Missoula’s quality of life by honoring those who have made significant contributions to the arts community. Individuals and businesses may be nominated in five separate categories: Cultural Achievement, Individual Artist, Arts Educator, Business Support for the Arts, and Cultural Vision.

The Cultural Achievement award is presented to an individual or couple who has consistently supported the arts community or has furthered the cause of the arts in general through volunteer, administrative, philanthropic, professional or legislative efforts. The Individual Artist award is presented to an artist who has shown exceptional achievement in music, visual art, dance, film/video, theater or performance art. The Arts Educator category honors an outstanding educator (kindergarten through the university level) who has devoted a career to teaching the arts. The Business Support for the Arts award will be given to a business that has provided long-term support to Missoula arts and cultural organizations. The Cultural Vision award recognizes an organization, group or individual that has developed a special project or program demonstrating unique artistic vision.

NOMINATIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED
NOMINATION PROCEDURE

Nominations are open to the public each year. Award recipients are chosen from among the nominees in each category by the selection committee, which includes members of the Arts Missoula board of directors. The panel may decide to not give an award in a particular category if the ranking of the nominees does not merit the award.

The winners of the Arts Missoula Awards and their nominators are notified in early March. Recipients will be honored at the Arts Missoula Awards Luncheon and will be asked to release photos and other information for presentations and publicity.
