Our Perspectives: Art Right Now // Juried Exhibition

Of the 320,000 student submissions to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards this year, zero came from
the state of Montana. To introduce this program to the public and increase participation from our state,
the Emerson has put out a Call For Art exclusively for High School students. The show, titled
Our Perspectives: Art Right Now, will jury student submissions into a month long exhibit immediately
following the Art.Write.Now.Tour. Accepting works in ALL medias from any public, private or
home school student grade 9 – 12.

Accepting applications for these intense, hands-on workshops taught by experts using top flight equipment. Workshops include The Business of Documentary Film Production, How to YouTube, New Opportunities in Visual Storytelling, Next Level Editing, Music In Film: A Collaborative Process, Big Budget Value for Low Budget Projects

At night, students and the public will be invited to listen to fireside chats from all-star world experts such as Academy Award winner Alan Root and PBS Nature’s Janet Hess.

Theatre Auditions


The Wizard of Oz

Missoula Community Theatre

Open Audition Date: Sun., Feb. 26 // Children, ages 10-15: 12:30-2pm  / Ages 16 and up: 2-4pm

Location: 3rd floor of the MCT Center for the Performing Arts (use Main St. entrance)

No advance preparation is required. A few children may be cast in the ensemble, but the lead roles will be played by adults. Expecting to cast 30 people. The iconic roles to be cast include Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tinman, Cowardly Lion, as well as Glinda, the Wicked Witch of the West, and the Wizard of Oz. The ensemble will include Winkies and residents of both Munchkin Land and Oz. There are non-singing lead roles available.

Director Joseph Martinez and his artistic staff of music director, Ellen McKenzie, and choreographer, Meagen Hensley, expect rehearsals to be weeknights from 7-10:30pm. The performance dates are April 27-May 14, 2017.
