FEATURED EVENT | Burning Mini Van

Part Party. Part Catharsis.
We are building a wooden mini van, on New Year’s Eve we will gather, contribute any regrets or guilt and let it go in a giant flaming catharsis. Together we will let go and burn the van.

Art on Tap is a travelling painting class hosted by a trained art instructor who leads participants through a painting from blank canvas to ready to hang wall art. It is a time to relax, enjoy the company of friends and create something unique.

2:00 pm | Watercolor Demo with Kendahl Jan Jubb

2:00 pm to 3:00 pm | Murphy ~ Jubb Fine Art
Nationally acclaimed watercolor artist Kendahl Jan Jubb will host a demo of her unique techniques.

2:00 pm | Screen Printing with the ZACC

2:00 pm to 5:00 pm | University Center Atrium
Come down to the University Center with a blank t-shirt, tote bag, or whatever you want inked and the ZACC will screen print fun designs for you.

2:00 pm | Taekwondo Demo

2:00 pm to 3:00 pm | Southgate Mall
The Missoula Taekwondo Demo Team will showcase board and brick breaking skills along with other martial arts skills.

2:00 pm | Fencing Class

2:00 pm to 3:00 pm | University Center Ballroom
Take a stab at the sport of fencing. Everyone will get a short lesson in fencing basics and an opportunity to fence with our electronic scoring equipment.
Open to ages 6 and up
Safety equipment provided

4:00 pm | Peace Sign Luminaria

4:00 pm to 12:00 am | Caras Park
New Year’s Eve is a good time as any for resolutions. Come share your resolve for world peace with the Jeanette Rankin Peace Center Peace Sign Luminaria. Luminaria are paper bags, sand, and candles – each one glowing like a lantern. You can bring your own luminaria or make one on site with your own message for peace in the new year. JRPC provides the materials, you provide the peace.

5:00 pm | Dances of Universal Peace

5:00 pm to 6:30 pm | Elk’s Lodge 2nd Floor Ballroom
Simple circle dances with live music using sacred phrases from many spiritual traditions. Practiced worldwide and taught on the spot, the Dances of Universal Peace emphasize experiences of unity,
joy, and peace. No partner or dance experienced needed. Everyone is welcome.

8:00 pm | Living Rhythm Drum Circle

8:00 pm to 9:00 pm | Public House
Come drum into the New Year with Matthew Nord leading an engaging and energetic drum circle for all ages. This circle is for all ages and abilities. No experience is necessary. Bring a hand drum if you have one and there will be plenty of extras on hand if you don’t. Come find your inner rhythm and create some community rhythm to take us into 2018.
