SPARK! The Art of Science

University Center Gallery, 12 pm to 6 pm

SPARK! Arts Ignite Learning and the University of Montana UC Gallery present: The Art of Science. Original artwork created by fourth grade students at Chief Charlo will be displayed at the University Center Gallery from noon until 6 pm. SPARK! Teaching artists Nancy Seiler and Carla Getz designed integrated lessons exploring the structures, shapes, and patterns of plants through art. Students, with the aid of a jeweler’s loupe, closely observed and drew line, pattern, and texture from a natural object. Students then transformed their detailed drawings into colorful, abstract paintings. First Night visitors will participate in a communal version of the SPARK! Integrated lesson. Community members are invited to pick up a jeweler’s loupe, a pencil, and a paintbrush to add their art to our collaborative canvas.
